Here’s looking towards 2010! We hope you’ve got good things lined up to welcome the New Year in and enjoy them tonight. Our health and nutrition programme will be starting soon, don’t forget to join our volunteers list if you haven’t already to make sure you hear about how to get involved. If you really fancy a challenge please sign up to take part in the full ride from Winchester to Gibraltar, or alternatively join us on our UK Mass Ride, a chance to raise some sponsorship for CRUK and enjoy getting that little bit fitter.

If you’re interested in doing all or part of our ride to Gibraltar in September 2010 make sure you’ve signed up to our volunteers list and selected this as a preference. This will be the first order of business next year, getting the medical research underway and finalizing who will be doing the continental ride. There is now a timeline, showing what we’re planning and when on the cycle project page, along with more information on the research planned.

As many of you will know the Inspired Living Committee has been working for the last 6 months to obtain charity status so we can really start realising our aims. However, this has proved to be more difficult than we thought it would be and rather than spend any more time fighting this battle we have decided to align ourselves closer to CRUK (Cancer Research UK) instead and are in the process of formalizing ourselves as a CRUK Committee. Once this has been finalized we will have charity status through CRUK and will be able to start accepting donations once the bank account has been set up.
This move will also allow us to start putting on more of the exercise sessions we had planned and to get the support of experienced volunteers from CRUK in ensuring our big events next year are a success. As we had been planning to ensure the money donated to us went to cancer research anyway this seems to be a good move all round and will allow us at Inspired Living to focus properly on our plans once again.

It’s the time of year when we’re thinking of sending Christmas Cards, and many of our supporters have been asking about spreading the word to friends and family, and also about donations to Inspired Living instead of buying / receiving presents this year. Unfortunately we’re not quite set up to start accepting donations over the website just yet, but this will be following soon. Please do spread the word though and encourage anyone else who may be interested to bookmark our site or even join our volunteers list themselves.

Here’s the photo from last weekend’s ride and walk. Even with the wet weather we had a good turnout, we even had a dog join us this time! If you click on the pic it’ll give the larger view so you can spot individuals in it. Details of the next ride and new exercise sessions starting in the New Year will be available soon. Keep an eye on our events page or join our Volunteers List to be kept informed.

Don’t forget our training session this Sunday. There will be routes for 7, 20 and 30 mile bike rides and also a 7mile walk. As always you take part at your own risk, if you would like to read the initial risk assessment it is now available.
Full details of this event are available on the events page, along with the routes if you wish to look through them. Copies will be available on the day as well.
