Posted January 26th, 2010 by Admin

Please note that the Jan 31st cycle ride has been canceled.
We have decided not to hold the planned cycle ride this weekend for a variety of reasons. Please keep an eye on our website for details of the next ride which will be added soon.

Continental Ride – Make your choice!

Posted January 22nd, 2010 by Admin

The ride is scheduled to start on Saturday 4th September 2010 in Winchester. The organising team are planning to arrange support vehicles, the outbound ferry, low cost B&B accommodation and return flights.

If you wish to take part in the Continental Ride please can you indicate your preferred rider category by Friday 29th January by sending an email to Mike.

We are planning for people to be able to participate in the ride in one of four categories:

  1. The Winos” – start at Winchester and leave the ride at Bordeaux to sample the wine !
    • 350 Miles – 4 days
    • These riders organise their own return arrangements
  2. The Glory Hunters” – join at Madrid and sprint down hill to the finish line !
    • 420 Miles – 5 days
    • These riders organise their own travel arrangements to meet the ride near Madrid
  3. The Sorbums” – Winchester to Gibraltar – the full monty
    • 1250 Miles – 14 days
  4. The Casuals” – join and leave the ride at any point
    • These riders organise their own transport to & from the ride as well as their own accommodation throughout

The draft route has been planned, mainly on quiet lanes and avoiding busy roads where possible. Details can be found on Bikely.com by searching under the “find” tab for “Inspired Living”.

The principle is that riders cover their costs and all funds raised are donated to Cancer Research UK. Our initial estimate is that it will cost each rider between £1000 and £1300 for the full ride depending on a number of factors. We will be requesting a non-refundable deposit of £200 by the end of February.
Go on kick out those winter blues and sign-up now!

We will be following-up with further information on health checks, training, nutritional advice and further information relevant to the ride.

Spread the word

We’re all geared up for the continental ride but we’re looking for a bit of help. Please pass the word around to anyone who may be interested, we’ve also put together a poster which we’d love you to print out and display where you work, on local club or society boards, anywhere you have access to and can help us advertise.

Don’t forget – if you’re already on our volunteers list make sure your preferences are up to date as we’ll be in touch with interested people very soon with more details.

Upcoming training

Posted January 9th, 2010 by Admin

With the current weather conditions we are unlikely to be organising the next training cycle ride soon. However, we are monitoring the weather and will book a ride at short notice if the weather looks suitable for a January ride. We are hopeful the monthly ride schedule will be back to normal from February.

We are also working on cardio sessions, we are planning regular circuit training from February as well. Details will be available on the website as they are finalised.
