Garmins and ride payment

Great to see a good number of riders on Sunday despite the chill factor!

One of the requirements for 2016 is that each rider should have their own Garmin. What became apparent from the first get together is that some participants either don’t have one, don’t know how to load tracks on to it, or can’t follow what has been loaded! Anyway, good humour prevailed and everyone managed to find their way home. It would however now be worth some of you investing some time (and money!) in researching this matter. If you need advice on this please feel free to approach one of the regulars. (Of course other satnavs apart from Garmin are available.)

For those who have mislaid the information about payments for the Home to Rome ride, please refer to the update email sent out on 17 December which sets out the amounts, due dates and Inspired Living bank details.

Home to Rome participants

Just a reminder to those taking part in the 2016 Continental ride that the next payment towards the cost of the ride is due on 1 March. Please remit to the Inspired Living bank account as before.

We are now in a better position to calculate a provisional cost per rider and if you are only doing part of the ride we will let you know your adjusted future payments in due course.

Ride together this Sunday!

A reminder that the first group ride is scheduled for this coming Sunday 28 February. Meet in the Hursley Club car park ready to roll at 9am. Forecast is 6 degrees with a strongish north easterly wind, so be prepared! We hope to circulate a GPX track for each route by the end of the week.

2016 Training Rides

These rides are intended to provide an opportunity to mix with fellow Home-Rome riders and supplement your own training plan! We recommend that riders have experience of at least one 200km ride, as well as riding on three consecutive days, before setting off for Rome.

1. IL Training run – a great opportunity for Home-Rome riders to mix. Other riders are also very welcome. Where we’ve set two distances (to hopefully meet the needs of most riders) both rides start on the same route. We’ll run these rides regardless of rain but not if it’s icy!

2. GPX tracks will be made available in good time for our IL Training runs.

3. We start most rides from Hursley Club SO21 2JN. It is formally only open to club members and guests. However, law abiding citizens are seldom turned away; if challenged just say you were invited by Mike Spencer and you’re expecting him to turn-up soon! They serve good value food and drinks.

4. Risk: All riders participate at their own risk.
