Continental Ride

Introduction

This year the ride takes place in September and is called the Inspired Living 999 ride to Venice. This is because we will be passing through 9 countries, and cycling over 900 miles in 9 days.

The ride is scheduled to start on Thursday 6th September, when the participants cycle from Winchester to Portsmouth to catch the overnight ferry to Le Harve. The ride will then go through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Litchenstein and finally Italy, arriving in Venice on Saturday 15th September, flying home on the 16th September 2012.

Our Riders

30 riders are making the journey, the oldest is 63 and the youngest 15. This includes 6 father & son pairs cycling and 1 son cycling with his dad as support crew on a motorbike. Occupations range from Doctors, Vets, builders, students, Accountants and project managers. We also have a support van with a driver and 2 support crew (both daughters of riders).

The cycling participants range from experienced veterans of both earlier IL Continental rides to new cyclists, whose only previous experience was cycling to the local shops!
