Inspired Living held its 2nd Cycle4Life mass charity cycle ride, in aid of Cancer Research UK, on Sunday 4th September – you ought to have been there!
Cycle4Life was originally designed for families to have a great time exercising and enjoying a gentle trip though some of Hampshire’s beautiful scenery. That’s still our aim but this year we wanted to encourage the enthusiastic and hard core cyclists to get involved with this worthy cause as well. It certainly beats pushing pedals in a gym!
So, to attract riders of all ages, levels and abilities to take part in Cycle4Life 2011 we devised three separate, scenic routes around the Winchester area each of a different distance so that you can pick the one that suits you best. They are :
- 25kms – perfect for families and novices
- 50kms – for adventurous novices and weekend riders
- 100kms – for the keen and fit
The circuits all start and finish atSt. Swithun’s School, Alresford Road, Winchester. [See bottom of page for maps]
Start point: St. Swithuns School, Winchester. Check in from 09:00.
First start: 09:30 then at 15 minute intervals until Last start : 11:45am
Finish point: St. Swithuns School, Winchester. Last finish: 17:30
With online registration for the event it is easy to join and we welcome team entries as well as families and individuals. So why not get a group of work mates together and enter as a team next year?

The entry fees are as follows:
- £12 for individuals
- £30 for families
- £36 for teams
Getting sponsored for your charity ride…
This is a sponsored charity ride with every penny raised helping to fund essential cancer research. As a partner of Cancer Research UK we are hoping to beat last year’s fundraising total of £89,000 – but we can only do this with your help.
Your entry fee only covers the cost of running the ride so please, please ask family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you to complete the ride.
To help spur you on we will be recognising fundraising with awards in the following categories:
- Best Family
- Best Under 12
- Best Under 16
- Best Senior

We also wish to make awards to:
- The oldest rider
- The youngest rider
When you register for the bike ride, full details about how you can do your own fund raising will be provided in your confirmation email along with an official sponsorship form.
Or you can just ask friends to sponsor you and donate to Cancer Research UK via our MyDonate page – here they can leave a good luck message for you and also apply Gift Aid to their donation.

Using Gift Aid means that for every pound they give, Cancer Research UK will currently receive an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue. This means that a £10 Gift Aid donation, is worth £12.80 to the charity – and it doesn’t cost you a thing !
Alternatively, you can set up your own MyDonate page specially for the event.
Fundraising for the ride will continue after the 4th September so you will have plenty of time to pull more money in for your efforts.
Show people what you did on the day – we’ll have photographers on-site to record your start and maybe even catch your triumphant return! And why not take photos of places you visited en route. It isn’t a race so you can take your time and enjoy the scenery! Let people see what you achieved and explain why it’s such a worthy cause.
Remember…..together we can beat cancer.
