The Dorset Coast 200km is one of the classics, starting at Wareham Town Quay, over to Poole and the Sandbanks to Studland chain ferry. Then down to Weymouth for a late (second?) breakfast. We continue westwards to Abbotsbury, and across the hills to Axminster for lunch. The return takes us through sleepy and scenic north Dorset to Dorchester, and then the roman road to the Bovington tank training area, and back to Wareham. The shorter route option (“The Dorset Coastlet”) cuts back from Abbotsbury across to the home leg of the 200km route from Dorchester. There will likely be a recovery fish & chips or a curry supper after we finish, so plan on making a whole day of it!
